Workout Plan Review: AlphaFoxFitness

Share with your friends!

Whether you are brand new to the fitness world or you’re an experienced weightlifter, the world of workout plans can be extremely daunting. The fact that you’re paying your hard-earned money for a plan that you might dislike is overwhelming to say the least. Not to mention, taking advice and interacting with a “stranger” about fitness on a regular basis is likely more than a beginner feels prepared to commit too. Since I have completed two different AlphaFoxFitness workout plans I wanted to give you a full workout plan review!

I was lucky enough to be college roommates with my eventual workout coach, otherwise I am not sure I would have ever committed. I know how intimidating it can be to make the purchase, especially if you’re new to fitness/weightlifting. That’s why I am thrilled to give you all of the pertinent details you need to feel confident and excited about purchasing a plan!

Now some back story

I have completed one customized 6-week workout plan and one customized 12-week workout plan. Tyler, the owner of AlphaFoxFitness gifted me the 6 week plan. The 12-week plan I purchased myself. I had minimal weightlifting experience and was very new to the world of fitness when I did my first program. Before you continue reading, take a second and read about my fitness journey here!

During my first plan (6 weeks) my goal was to lose a few pounds, gain some muscle, and ultimately get on a routine that I could sustain. In my most recent plan (12 weeks) my goal was to make major booty gains, meaning I was actively trying to gain weight.

Customized plans like the ones I have completed are tailored to your specific fitness goals. You will take a quick survey that will help Tyler better understand what you would like to get out of the plan (i.e. weight loss, muscle gain, weight gain, etc.) This survey also includes how many days a week you would like to/can reasonably workout. My preference was 5 days a week whereas my friend who was a new mom at the time could only work out 2 days a week at the gym and one home workout. Tyler was able to successfully accommodate both of our differing lifestyles.

Customized plans include:
  1. Access to the app: This is where the workouts Tyler has put together for you, will be. Click on your workout for the day and you see the entire line up of exercises, number of sets and reps, as well as videos to show you how to do every single exercise. The app also allows you to track and record your number of reps/weights. This is crucial to your progress. The app is extremely user friendly which was one of my big concerns.
  2. Nutrition advice: Tyler gives you a recommended calorie and macronutrient range to help you achieve your predetermined goals. He also provides meal and snack ideas AND healthy restaurant recommendations.
  3. Check ins: You can communicate to Tyler via the app. No need to text or call. Unlimited questions and assistance throughout the entirety of the plan. Through these check ins, Tyler determines if the plan is working for you. He makes adjustments as needed to better assist you.
  4. Most plans require little to no cardio –holla!
So what sets AlphaFoxFitness plans apart from others?

Tyler is the difference. Yes, the plans are amazing. If you put in the work, you get great results. But honestly, I am here to sell you on Tyler and the endless support and knowledge you get from him being your coach.

I would send him videos of my exercises to ensure my form was right. I still do this to this day. His explanations and corrections are easy to understand, and you never feel dumb for asking him questions.

During my 6-week plan I had a weekend getaway scheduled and I knew my diet would be out of check. Because I was so new to working out and nutrition I was completely paranoid that I was going to ruin all my progress. I explained my concerns to Tyler and he assured me I wasn’t going to lose any progress and to go enjoy myself. That’s it. Seriously y’all, it was exactly what I needed to be able to enjoy my trip without guilt. This advice kickstarted my change in mindset regarding my relationship with food and a healthy lifestyle because he was right. I didn’t lose any progress at all.

There were a of couple exercises in both plans that I absolutely hated. I couldn’t get the form correct or I didn’t feel them where I was supposed to.  Tyler adjusted my plan and substituted new exercises that were better suited to me.

As you might be able to imagine, trying to gain weight is an extremely foreign concept when we are so used to always trying to lose it. Even knowing it would lead to my goal it was still hard for me to accept. Tyler tailored his check ins during my 12-week plan to make sure my mental health was okay with the weight gain. He reminded me of the end goals and explained the science behind my body regulating the weight gain. It completely eased my mind knowing I was able to rely on someone who actually knew what he was talking about. For me, this ensured I was doing what I needed to be doing to achieve my goals.

Seriously, I would text him panicking that I was getting “chunky” (I’m dramatic, okay?!) He was happy to remind me that my bodyweight was going to fluctuate and that was okay. And, if I was gaining too much or too quickly he would adjust my workouts/nutrition accordingly. He was truly focused on my happiness and the progress I was making.

It is SO unbelievably helpful to have a set workout plan that you know is made for you. It takes the guess work out of creating your own workouts and calorie/macro goals. The learning process becomes so much simpler which is crucial for success, especially as a beginner. Even once I had more experience lifting, the plan and Tyler’s knowledge brought me so much closer to my goals. I’ve seen amazing progress physically and mentally. So much so that even after completing the plan in May, I have continued with the same workout split and calories/macros provided by Tyler.
