My 2020 Goals

Share with your friends!

I’ve gone back and forth about writing this blog post. I believe wholeheartedly in calling your shot and boldly committing to your goals. I even wrote about it in one of my previous blog posts, how to set New Year’s goals and ACTUALLY achieve them. You need to write them down, say them out loud and stop saying you’re going to “try” to achieve them. You must commit. I believe this to be true because I’ve had the most traction on my 2019 goals than I have any other year. And I know it’s because I fully committed to them. But here I am, racked with nerves to publicly call my shot for my 2020 goals.

I’ve never picked a “word” for the New Year before. In fact, I didn’t even know people did that until I heard Rachel Hollis say her word for 2019 was warrior. Even then, I never felt inclined to pick just one word to encompass a whole year. Recently I decided that above all my specific 2020 goals, I was going to pick a word to work towards this year. I wanted to pick a word that if I truly live up to it, then I will have a greater chance of completing my goals.

My word for 2020 is brave.

2019 is the first time I’ve shown signs of being truly brave: Courageous despite fear. I’ve always been a fearful individual and I know I’ve let it hold me back from opportunity and experiences. But the accomplishments I have been most proud of in my adult life have come as direct result of being brave.

I have been so nervous to share my 2020 goals because failure has been one of my biggest fears for as long as I can remember. Sharing my 2020 goals with you despite the fear of failure is what a brave person would do and I am going to be brave in 2020. I want to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Discomfort is the only way to grow and that has been proven time and time again. If I am going to have the big dreams I say I want, I have to work to show up as the person I want to be. This year my goal is to become someone who is brave.

My 2020 goals:

I am including my full list. However, I do believe it can be overwhelming and counterproductive to have too many goals. I may narrow these down or more than likely, focus on different ones over the course of the year.

The Relatable Red brand:

1. 10,000 monthly page views and visitors

For reference, my highest monthly blog views was 3935 and visitors was 3355. My goal is always to be an authentic and impactful blogger/influencer. So while I try not to get caught up in the numbers game, I still want to expand my reach and provide value to more people.

2. Start a podcast

Ooooh child that’s scary to say out loud. I’ve mentioned it before but calling it out and making it a goal for 2020 is making my butt sweat. Over this past year of growth and personal development, I have been working to train myself to dream big and this feels big y’all.

3. Make “Wine Down With Red” a thing

If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I have recently started doing a live series called “Wine Down With Red.” In an effort to be brave, even at the end of 2019, I began going live on Instagram with wine in hand to hang out with you guys, my online friends. It’s brand spanking new having only gone live a few times. For 2020, I want to make it a consistent weekly event. So, Wednesdays at 8pm EST, pop on over to my Instagram for some lighthearted chats and real talk advice.

4. Make some money honey

At the very end of 2019, I did actually make my first ever money from blogging. However, one of my 2020 goals is to earn at least double my (monthly) day job paycheck over the course of the year.

5. Pitch to brands

See goal number 4. I could never be a salesperson except for things I wholeheartedly believe in. I have a few brands in mind that I love and would love to promote.

Personal:

1. Sober January

Yes, for January “Wine Down with Red” will be sober for me! Alcohol is my vice of choice and giving it up for a month will be difficult but I can do hard things. Also, I am beginning my newest weightlifting program by AlphaFoxFitness in January which means scaling back my daily calorie intake. Removing alcohol will make that easier and allow me to get a really solid start on this program and this coming year.

2. Double our savings or buy a house

Whichever comes first. We want to buy a house as soon as we can but there are still some logistics to figure out. So in the mean time, my fiancé Matt and I will be working to double our savings from 2019. We doubled our 2018 savings in 2019 so I am excited for this challenge!

3. Read more personal development/business books

I love personal development books but I have yet to read any business books so that is on my agenda for 2020. My goal is to split my reading 50/50 between these topics and fiction!

4. Be more present

With Matt, our families, and even our dogs. Less scrolling, more quality time.

5. Interrupt less & listen more

Great listeners are some of the best people I’ve ever known. They make people feel heard and understood and they always have more information than the rest of us. Not to mention, I know it will undoubtedly benefit my relationship with Matt as well.

That’s it folks!

I hope I can report back in December of 2020 with a whole list of accomplished goals. Let’s do this!

What is one of your 2020 goals? Tell me in the comments below. I can’t wait to hear!
